Our client is actively seeking a talented EHS Coordinator/Specialist to work with a team located in Pewaukee, IL. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with our client.  

Work Environment:
  • Office: 25% of the time is spent in an office environment including florescent lighting, dust, recycled air, cooling fans, semi-enclosed areas, central heating, seasonal warmer temperatures and office noise
  • Shop: 75% of the time is spent walking on the Shop Floor In locations with a factory or shop floor, exposure to factory/shop, CNC/Welding/metal working machinery and chemicals, ambient heat & humidity during the summer months
  • Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes, Vests are required
  • Travel: 10%
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours

Job Overview:

The EHS Coordinator provides support for the Environmental, Health, Safety, & Sustainability strategy and operational improvement for Client manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for the coordinating the site EHS function on the development and maintenance of an effective environment, health, safety, security & sustainability program and to work collaboratively with the site teams to identify issues and to lead improvements that support Client’s philosophy to “Accept Only Zero”. The EHS Coordinator/Specialist is expected to drive culture change with a high degree of employee engagement supporting Client Continuous Improvement processes.

Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Interpret occupational, health, safety and environmental regulations for applicability and compliance to manufacturing operations
  • Program management experience in recordkeeping, hazardous energy, confined spaces, electrical safety, chemical safety, chemical storage, ladder safety, material handling, machine guarding, hot work and heavy industrial equipment such as forklift, booms, scissor lifts
  • Collect data, observe work processes, and interview workers in order to evaluate and propose changes to improve ergonomics
  • Permit management experience required in AIR, WATER and WASTE programs such as but not limited to monitoring, Inspections, sampling and reporting requirements for Emission Statements, Strom Water, Waste Water, TIER II, and TRI, Spill Prevention and Control and Counter Measure (SPCC), Hazardous Materials Storage and Disposal
  • evaluate work stations to design or alter its workspace so that it best fits the physical attributes of the employees
  • Audit against occupational, health, safety and environmental regulations and recommend actions to ensure compliance and avoid findings and/or regulatory infractions (by Federal, State and Local Government agencies)
  • Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-Annual and Annual of regulatory requirements as well as postings licensing and permits
  • Perform and oversee the monthly safety and environmental compliance audits
  • Lead, support and/or coach teams on incident root cause analysis to prevent incident reoccurrence
  • Administer required EHS training and maintain associated documentation according to regulatory requirements
  • Recommend and implement methods to improve the safety & environmental programs and processes as they relate to regulatory compliance
  • Be an active participant/facilitator on the Safety Committee

Requirements:
 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge in the interpretation of regulations governed by General Industry OSHA, EPA as well as State occupational health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge in assessing ergonomic risks and recommending options to mitigate
  • Computer experience in Word, Excel, Presentations
  • Ability to research and answer questions clearly
  • Ability to communicate with courage & candor
  • Safety Committee leadership

Preferred Skills:
 
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or working towards
  • Environmental management experience or experience equivalent
  • Knowledge in the interpretation of consensus standards including NFPA 70E and ANSI
  • Training skills including mentor, coaching & performance evaluations
