Our client is actively seeking to add 5-6 talented Party Chiefs to work with as part of 2-3 man crews supporting projects located in Austin, San Antonio, Houston and/or Dallas, TX. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with our client and candidates MUST be able to clear mandatory Drug and Background check.
Job Overview:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of field experience supervising a field crew for construction and civil engineering projects. The Survey Crew Chief oversees the daily field operations of the survey crew. The Survey Crew Chief will also be responsible for conducting field survey activities that may include construction layout, boundary, ALTA, topographic, route surveys, control network, and as-built surveying on a wide variety of projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe working conditions for crew members and make decisions related to job safety.
- Proficient in the use of all survey equipment including Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Station, Auto Level.
- Ensure vehicle and all equipment are properly maintained.
- Determine the most efficient plan of action for data acquisition for field surveys ranging from primary control through construction layout and as-built surveys.
- Ability to coordinate with contractors and clients daily in a professional manner.
- Helps with computations for daily field crew staking activities.
- Proficient with documentation of work performed and sketches.
- Reviews and maintains survey records, notes, files, worksheets, and related contract documents.
- Read and interpret construction drawings/specifications and understand all aspects of the project specifications and tolerances.
- Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork.
- Performs other duties as assigned at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.
- Five+ (5) years of progressive experience leading a survey field crew.
- Possesses a high degree of understanding of the principles and practices of surveying.
- Experience performing construction stakeout using Trimble data collection software.
- Understanding of appropriate GPS surveying techniques and equipment.
- Ability to prepare and interpret complex technical, architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Specialized knowledge of field surveying with instrumentation and field data collection, sufficient to provide guidance to less experienced technicians.
- Experience dealing with clients and contractors is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to Company insurance provider
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Ability to pass mandatory drug screening.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $62,000 - $82,000 per year.
The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
