Our client is actively seeking a talented Accountant II located in Chapel Hill, NC. This is a 12-month contract opportunity with the possibility to convert into full-time with our client.
This position is a hybrid opportunity for 2-3 days in the office.
Overview:
This position provides support to the Budget Analyst/Finance Manager to assist in oversight, and support of fiscal activities for the Health Foundation, trust, departmental funds, and professorships. Candidates for this position must possess superior problem-solving, analytical thinking, decision-making, customer service, communication, negotiation, and consulting, which are utilized to make decisions that solve complex budget and program issues and coordinate solutions. The candidate will work directly with the Budget Analyst and Associate Director of Finance Administration to strategically manage all Health Foundation and trust funds. This will include financial reporting, reconciling and preparation, and submission of funds transfers. Creation of process documentation. This position is expected to solve complex problems and make decisions independently.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level budgetary support. This includes managing accounting, budget, and reporting systems across all fund types, each with different uses and restrictions. Fund types include state appropriations, facility and administration, expendable trusts, and endowed trusts.
- Prepare quarterly budget versus actual reports including projections through end of fiscal year
- Position ensures expenditures on the trust funds comply with the purpose of the gift agreement.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to analyze large data sets
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in accounting; or Associate’s degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- Excellent interpersonal communication leadership skills
- Experience with computerized financial reporting systems
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to assess accuracy, validity, and integrity of data as well as the ability to retain and organize high volumes of information
- Knowledge of state accounting practices, rules and regulations as related to all funds sources
- MBA or CPA
- Modeling of budgets and projections
A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $33.50 - $38.50 per hour.
The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
