Job Title: CAD Operator III
Type of Engagement: 12-month contract (Not open to 3rd party C2C consultants. Visa sponsorship is not available)
Work Location: Hybrid in Raleigh, NC  

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer with experience in MicroStation and AutoCAD to support civil and electrical design projects, as well as contribute to team-wide digital efficiency initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical drafting capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across platforms.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Create and revise civil and electrical design drawings using MicroStation and AutoCAD based on engineer or designer markups.
  • Apply design expertise to produce accurate and comprehensive drawings from verbal instructions, sketches, field measurements, and written documentation.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating CAD work within the department.
  • Develop and maintain CAD standards, work methods, and libraries of 2D/3D parts, blocks, and details to improve drawing clarity and consistency.
  • Maintain and update electronic drawings in the company’s document management system.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of design activities.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of the group SharePoint site to improve team collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline workflows, including combining PDFs and optimizing document handling processes.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within design and documentation workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
  • Maintain organized records and drawing files.

Required Skills & Experience:
 
  • Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology (or equivalent) with 3–7 years of experience, OR 5–11 years of experience with at least 30 credit hours completed in an approved technical program, OR 8–17 years of equivalent experience without a degree.

Big Bonus Points if you Have:
 
  • Experience with FileNet Fusion.
  • Prior experience in the utility industry.
  • Proficiency in both AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with raster drawings in CAD.
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
  • Experience developing or maintaining SharePoint sites.
  • Experience with scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, VBA) for document automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $17.18 - $22.18 per hour. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
