Job Title: Civil Design Engineer
Type: Direct Hire
Work Location: Onsite position located in Charlotte, NC - some flex for local candidates to work Hybrid

Candidates must reside in the Greater Charlotte, NC area.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Experience with Civil 3D and other civil engineering design software
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and project lifecycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Valid driver’s license
Big points if you have:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
Job Overview:
The Civil Engineer Designer will be responsible for designing, drafting, and assisting in the development of civil engineering projects, including infrastructure, transportation, and site development.

The Civil Engineer Designer will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to produce high-quality designs and drawings that meet project requirements and industry standards

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Design and Development
  • Develop detailed design plans for infrastructure, roads, drainage systems, and site development
  • Create accurate models and drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications and adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Technical Documentation
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, reports, and specifications
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all design revisions and updates
  • Support the creation of permits and other compliance-related documentation
  • Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
  • Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
  • Provide technical support during project planning and construction phases
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure that all designs comply with local, state, and federal engineering codes and standards
  • Prepare documentation for regulatory submissions and address compliance issues as necessary
  • Stay updated on changes to engineering regulations and environmental policies
  • Software Utilization
  • Utilize Civil 3D and other design tools for project development
  • Implement the latest design technologies and methodologies for efficient workflows
  • Train and support junior team members in software and design tools as needed
Quality Control
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance checks on designs, specifications, and calculations
  • Review and revise designs to resolve any errors or omissions before submission
  • Ensure all design deliverables meet company and client standards for accuracy and detail
Professional Development and Industry Knowledge
  • Stay informed of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in civil engineering design
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities as needed
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve skills and contribute to team development

A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
