Job Overview:
The Survey Technician – Construction Land Surveying role is responsible for providing advanced technical support for active construction projects, including survey calculations, boundary analysis, field data processing, QA/QC, and coordination with CAD and field teams.
This role supports the Construction Operations Manager and RPLSs by ensuring accurate, complete, and construction-ready survey deliverables and plays a key role in keeping projects on schedule.
This is an office-based position with frequent collaboration across field operations, CAD, and project management teams.

A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $62,400 - $72,800 per year. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

- Coordinate with Construction Field Operations Manager, RPLSs, and Field Operations to plan and support construction survey activities
- Prepare calculation maps, control layouts, and field support documentation for construction staking and layout
- Review research packages, deeds, plats, easements, and title commitments for construction-related impacts
- Process and adjust conventional and GPS data (horizontal and vertical)
- Perform boundary analysis and build subject/adjoining parcels in CAD to support accurate construction decisions
- Review field data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with project requirements
- Provide clear technical direction and calculations to CAD Drafters for final deliverables
- Conduct preliminary QA/QC reviews prior to RPLS submission
- Identify conflicts, gaps, or constructability issues and proactively coordinate resolutions
- Support consistency in drafting standards, point codes, and construction workflows
- Maintain client-specific requirements, templates, and drafting standards
- Assist with training and technical guidance for CAD staff during high-volume periods
- Communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues efficiently
- Adhere to all company policies, safety requirements, and professional standards
Required Skills & Experience:
Â
- 2+ years of survey technician experience in construction and/or commercial land surveying
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Construction staking support
- Boundary analysis
- Survey calculations and adjustments
- CAD-based survey workflows
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple active projects
- Experience coordinating between field crews, CAD, and licensed surveyors
- Proficiency with survey software, CAD platforms, and cloud-based project tools
- Strong attention to detail with a production-oriented mindset
- Clear communicator who can identify problems and propose solutions
- High school diploma or GED; technical or associate degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license may be required
