What we are looking for (required, must-have):
- Work experience in the payments industry.
- 5+ years of Cloud Infrastructure Management experience.
- Proven team management experience.
- Strong AWS experience – including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, networking, etc.
- Extensive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience (Terraform is highly preferred)
- Experience with Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting tools (like Datadog, Sumo Logic)
- Knowledge of security best practices, identity management, & compliance standards.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, & decision-making skills.
- Has empathy & strong leadership in guiding teams.
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineering Manager for our client, to lead their cloud infrastructure team. The Manager will be responsible for managing the team that designs, implements, and maintains a scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure. Will lead a team of systems engineers, drive best practices, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of their cloud operations. He/she will contribute to setting team strategy and ensuring engineering OKRs are consistently met.
This is a fully remote full-time, permanent position. Even though it is remote, the person must live in the Eastern or Central time zones.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, guide, and mentor the infrastructure engineering team, promoting a culture of innovation, best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Lead the team in designing, implementing, and optimizing AWS cloud infrastructure solutions to meet business and application requirements.
- Cultivate a high-availability team environment focused on reliability, scalability, and performance exceeding 99.99% uptime.
- Define and enforce best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Oversee and manage AWS resource cost management and optimization.
- Uphold system health & performance by establishing and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks.
- Establish on-call rotations and incident management protocols to quickly diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related issues while minimizing downtime.
- Stay informed on the latest AWS services, trends, and best practices to drive ongoing improvements in infrastructure strategy.
- Foster the growth and development of the engineering team by promoting an inclusive culture, mentoring junior members, and attracting top talent.
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
Required:
- 5+ years of Cloud Infrastructure Management experience, with a focus on AWS.
- Strong understanding of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and networking.
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
- Experience with Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting solutions
- Knowledge of security best practices, identity management, and compliance standards (SOC 2, PCI, ISO 27001).
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and achieve roadmap goals to achieve company objectives.
- Demonstrates empathy and strong leadership in guiding teams, excelling in mentorship and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Passionate about supporting engineers in developing new skills and advancing their careers, providing constructive feedback and facilitating growth through open and objective conversations.
- Experience working in the payments industry.
Preferred:
- Have 1 or more AWS certifications.
- Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with serverless architecture and event-driven systems.
Pay:
The Comp consists of a Salary ranging from $160,000 to $180,000 per year plus Equity. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
