Our client is actively seeking a talented Product Manager - Wireless Technologies to work with a team located in Cary, NC. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with our client.

The position has a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week required in office.

Essential Responsibilities:
 
  • Manage from beginning to end of the product lifecycle, from strategic planning to product end of life.
  • Develop Market Requirement Definition and Product Requirement Definition documents
  • Engage with customers and experts inside and outside the company to formulate compelling product roadmaps, value propositions, and product business cases
  • Support the development of product documentation, tech notes, white papers and marketing collateral
  • Help manage and troubleshoot engineering, manufacturing, and customer deployment issues as they arise
  • Work with the engineering team to deliver quality products on time and within budget
  • Contribute to building strong company-wide product management processes
  • Help to establish SmartGrid network solution strategy and roadmap
  • Develop competitive analyses
  • Become the company’s product expert for his/her designated solutions
  • Work with the marketing, sales, and business development teams to respond to RFPs and sales support
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap
  • Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition
  • Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
  • Provide technical sales support
  • Perform product demos to customers
  • Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
  • Develop sales tools and collateral
  • Propose an overall budget to ensure success
  • Brief and train the sales force at quarterly sales meetings
  • Act as a leader within the company

Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Product Manager
  • 3+ years of experience in a smart grid/utility industry role preferred, but not required
  • Technical background and experience with streetlighting, electric meters, commercial IoT and the various protocols utilized in these devices/solutions.
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
  • Deep understanding of wireless communication networks, wireless and IP protocols and standards
  • Experience in the utility market strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with customers, as well as with peers in the sales, manufacturing and engineering organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Must be able to travel 25% of the time
  • Examples and at least one sample of an effective document delivered in the past

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $120,000 - $145,000 per year.

The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
