Our client is actively seeking a talented Project Manager in Surry, VA. This is a 12-month contract opportunity with the possibility for extension.


Job Overview:

A Project Manager is needed to support the major Digital Instrumentation and Control (I&C) modernization program for our client’s Power Station. The Digital I&C project is a 10+ year effort as part of Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) to upgrade safety and non-safety-related analog systems to digital and transform the main control room to flat panel displays and controls.


Job Responsibilities:
 
  • This role works with a cross-functional team of Project Management peers, design engineers, station stakeholders, schedulers, suppliers, construction, and other specialty project leads to execute the project implementation.
  • Leads, manages, and/or supports specific phases of digital I&C project design and implementation
  • Working with the lead Project Manager to develop and manage project scope, budget, schedule and risk
  • Communicating regularly with team, station stakeholders, and other departments through use of presentations, log entries, and monthly reports
  • Heavy interface with other groups, departments, and outside entities are an expectation of this position. Performance of a variety of other duties as requested or assigned are also to be expected.
  • Reports to Supervisor of Digital Nuclear Projects for the SLR Projects Group in Virginia.


Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
  • Other Education: Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management
  • 7+ years of nuclear industry experience in the field of construction, engineering, finance and/or management with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Ability to work and develop rapport with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
  • Ability to develop, manage and monitor project performance to ensure results meet project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
  • Ability to manage project risk through collaboration with the project team, station stakeholders, suppliers, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to coordinate the resolution of technical problems and implement changes.
  • Experience managing large complex projects involving heavy technical engineering and station interface
  • Commitment to working on-site
  • Nuclear utility project management experience
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams


Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
  • Experience managing a full lifecycle digital project

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $87.05 - $92.05 per hour.

The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
