Job Description

Job Title: Senior Product Manager
Type: Direct Hire
Work Location: Hybrid Position located in Cary, NC (4 days onsite/1 day remote) with up to 20% travel.

Required Skills & Experience:
 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate at all levels and prioritize team/company goals over personal goals when appropriate.
  • Analytical emphasis with ROI development skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized and flexible.
  • Must have rail experience/ exposure (either worked at a railroad or preferably sold software solutions to railroads or railroad shippers.
  • Must have SAAS product management experience (full life-cycle).
  • Must be willing to relocate to Cary NC and work at the office 4 days a week.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/related field (or equivalent related work experience).

Big Bonus Points if you Have:
 
  • Nice to have: Rail, trucking, or ocean Transportation Management System (TMS) experience or asset (locomotives, rail cars) maintenance related experience.
  • Nice to have: Experience managing a team.
  • MBA
  • AGILE/SCRUM experience and/or certified
  • Product or project management certifications
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking tools and methods
  • Knowledge of Pragmatic Marketing tools and methods

Job Overview:

Lead a portfolio of software as a service (SaaS) products serving the freight rail industry. Define and own product strategy and new feature roadmap .Work collaboratively with peers to  grow company revenues and the industry value delivered.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

Essential Functions – Portfolio Strategic Planning/Road-Mapping:
  • Classical product management duties: market, customer, competitor research, business case development, defining product vision and goals.
  • Understand all aspects of the product(s) in the portfolio, including how products deliver value to our customers and what business processes they support.
  • Work with customers and internal stakeholders to define and deliver new industry value through new products, product line extensions, productivity gains and cost savings.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Set goals and strategies that align with mission and vision.
  • Analyze product investment to allocate budget and resources.
  • Develop and manage a team of product owners that support the portfolio.

Essential Functions – Project Management and Maintenance Prioritization:
  • Manage the prioritization of user stories, features, new products, projects, and process improvements.
  • Deliver projects for assigned products in partnership with IT development managers.
  • Understand product risks, develop mitigation strategies and ensure high quality releases

Essential Functions – P&L Responsibilities:
  • Deliver annual budgeted revenue and profit targets.
  • Budget and forecast product revenue and expenses.
  • Explain actual revenue variances to budget & forecast.
  • Identify and implement near-term and long-term cost reduction opportunities.
  • Partner with IT development project managers to manage project budgets and ensure value delivery.
  • Make pricing decisions.

Key Measures:
  • Revenue and expenses at budgeted levels
  • Customer satisfaction at targeted levels
  • Employee development and performance management

Non-Essential Functions:
  • Direct customer communication
  • Customer/Account management
  • Price negotiations

Job Requisition #39149

A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $110,000 - $160,000 per year. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
