Job Description
Work Location: Preference is for local candidates who can go in the office 2-3 days per week. But is open to those in other cities in Texas but will have to travel to Austin every other week until acclimated. Then will turn to 1-2 times a month.
We are on the hunt for a talented Senor Product Owner, w/ BA skills and life insurance industry experience, for a permanent, direct hire opening with our North Austin-based client. It is preferred for the person to be local and go onsite 2-3 days a week, but it is open to those in other cities in Texas as long as they travel to Austin every other week initially. After getting acclimated, it would only be 1-2 a month.
This position will provide product ownership and business analyst work. Will be responsible to collaborate with internal and business contacts to analyze needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals, meet the customer needs, help troubleshoot the issues in applications and serve as product ambassador.

What you will be expected to do:
- Assist with requirements gathering, definition, and design activities resulting from the business partners request or defect resolution.
- Work with business partners on resolution of defects.
- Assess value, develop use cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work aligns with product strategy.
- Plan and prioritize product development and product feature backlog.
- Work with project managers, application developers, & production support managers on other projects that are going on. Help in the research, analysis, & documentation of production support and defect resolution.
- Coordinate and meet with the business partners to ensure that the defect resolution high-level scope and dependencies are identified and documented.
- Assist in QA and regression testing.
- Mitigate roadblocks to achieve sprint or release goals.
- Help the automation team to prioritize work items based on business and product needs.
Experience you need to have:
- 3-4+ years of relevant experience, as either a Product Owner or Business Analyst.
- Life Insurance industry knowledge & experience.
- Experience in analyzing data to draw business relevant conclusions.
- Experience writing use cases, planning product development, and with product feature backlogs.
- Strong knowledge of breaking down process flows.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
- Knowledge of various development methodology (Agile, Etc.).
- Excellent written, verbal and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated when it comes to tasking and planning.
- Must be able to pay attention to details.
- Must be able to articulate resolutions clearly and concisely and in a timely manner.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Ability to run SQL queries and write scripts as needed.
- OIPA experience is a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree is desired but not a dealbreaker.
Pay:
A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000 per year. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
