Job Description
Type of Engagement: 12-month contract
Work Location: Onsite position located in Greensboro, NC
Candidates must reside in the Greater Greensboro, NC area.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 5-7+ years of experience in product development projects in the commercial vehicles industry or equivalent
- 5+ years of CREO/PRO-E experience is required (sheet metal, castings, piping etc). Applied knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Knowledge of product development life cycle, and manufacturing processes.
- Candidate demonstrates self- awareness, is self-driven with positive, global, and problem-solving, growth mindset. Takes product ownership for assigned function area.
Big Bonus Points if you Have:
- Previous or equivalent OEM experience.
- Knowledge of class 8 heavy duty trucks.
- Experience working in an Agile environment (with product owner or scrum master)
Job Overview:
As a Consultant, serve as an Experienced Engineer to develop & maintain technical solutions for Chassis Equipment function areas. Have operational responsibility and ownership for engineering solutions in an assigned Function area within team. Collaborates with cross functional stakeholders and contributes to quality & readiness of engineering releases.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Take product ownership and engineering responsibility, independently deliver the tasks in assigned Chassis Equipment function areas. Integrate deliveries from other cross functional stakeholders and secure quality and delivery readiness of engineering design releases.
- Perform design activities from concept to production phase, support verification & validation activities, and any corrective actions during design maturity stages.
- Complete engineering activities, drawings, engineering change releases, packaging verification, within area of function group responsibility. Heavy emphasis is placed on level of expertise, knowledge, analysis, accuracy, interaction within department and cross functional team members.
- Prepare, support design review for manufacturing (DFM), aftermarket (DFAM) and quality tools related to function area assignment.
- Work with analysis group (FEA, CFD analyst) to validate the designed parts. Determine most optimum approach for actual or potential problems and implement cost & weight effective, sustainable solutions.
- Work with test engineers to support the testing activities, support prototype procurement. Support plan for accelerated endurance testing of the components/assemblies in area of responsibility.
- Work with Suppliers/vendors during sourcing, tooling development, quality issues, reviewing & approving supplier request for engineering change.
- Provide engineering support for prototype/methods/pilot builds at production plant, corrective action for vehicle audit issues. Resolve factory, assembly, lab, project, product issues as tracked in Jira Product issue log (PIL) system within area of responsibility.
- Issue engineering work requests for testing (TWR), analysis work request (AWR), engineering shop work request, rapid prototype, to provide guidance and direction on related projects.
- Assure compliance with applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB etc) related to area of responsibility.
- Respond to technical reports and provide corrective guidance and recommendations resulting from verification & validation activities.
- Manage, update, issue changes in product data management system KOLA for timely design release changes.
- Work in a cross-functional mode with all other line organization team members (Group Trucks Operations/Vehicle Engineering/Power Train Engineering/Aftermarket Technology/Complete Vehicle) to secure technical solutions for assigned function area within Chassis Equipment.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $42.00 - $47.00 per hour. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
