Job Title: Substation Designer
Type: Direct Hire
Work Location: Hybrid in Fort Worth, TX

Our client is looking for a motivated individual with intermediate-to-advanced electric distribution and substation design skills.  This role will be responsible for developing electric distribution overhead and underground CAD designs along with electric substation CAD designs at the direction of the Senior Engineering Manager, developing design standards and templates, executing the QA/QC program, and training new electric designers and drafters.  This role will also be responsible for participating in the on-going growth and development of design practices and data management. 

Essential Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Essential in the execution of distribution/substation design projects in AutoCAD Civil3D and AutoCAD Plant3D.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of a training program to develop the design team and on-board new design employees.
  • Build Bill of Materials from proposed designs.
  • Understand and implement client and industry standards.
  • Participate in the quality assurance/quality control program to deliver industry-leading design products.
  • Closely coordinate with engineers and managers in other service lines to provide cross-functional support.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support design services.  Travel may include air travel out of state.
  • A wide range of creativity and latitude is expected.

Required Skills & Experience:
 
  • 3+ years of underground utility experience for public utilities
  • 5+ years of Civil 3D experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform all the essential functions of this position.
  • Electric distribution and substation design experience
  • Strong CAD civil design experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong document and project control habits

Big Bonus Points if you Have:
 
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution (project experience can substitute for degree)
  • Specific experience in plan/profile development, substation design, or automation design
  • Experience in substation relay and control design
  • Familiar with AutoDesk Plant3D

A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $60,000 - $85,000. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
