#LI-JN1 Job Title: Systems Engineer
Type of Engagement: 12-month contract (Not open to 3rd party C2C consultants. Visa sponsorship is not available)
Work Location: Hybrid position located in Raleigh, NC

Candidates must reside in the Greater Raleigh, NC area.

Required Skills & Experience:

Associates degree in Computer Science or equivalent required. Combination of training and work experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
A minimum of five 3-5 years of experience in data center and network operations, troubleshooting, and implementations.
Strong Cisco routing and switching skills.

Big Bonus Points if you Have:

Network security experience with Whats Up Gold, Aruba Access Point or similar products would be helpful.
Palo Alto and Cisco firewall experience- 1-2 years ideally
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Job Overview:
Design, implement, analyze, secure and manage network equipment and supporting management systems. Provides technical support for communicating and accessing data connecting to and passing through the IT infrastructure.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Develops project plans to test, configure and troubleshoot solutions approved through established project and development processes.
Creates and maintains system documentation on configurations and data flows.
Recommends operational improvements to reduce maintenance or costs, improve operations and avoid problems.
Understands developments in the computing, telecommunications and utility industry and the impacts and opportunities such developments present to the cooperative.
Maintains and troubleshoots routers, circuits, switches, firewalls, management systems and other network equipment.
Coordinates trouble calls with Network Operations Center, telecom providers and customers.
Assesses IT assets for adherence to security procedures and watches for signs of compromise.
Develops and recommends technical and operations solutions and undertakes related work needed to effectively operate the department.

Job Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of network hardware, operating systems, applications and datacenter operations. Sound knowledge of documentation processes, operational procedures, project planning and quality assurance techniques.

Abilities and Skills:

The ability to design, implement, analyze, secure and manage network systems, interact effectively with all levels of the organization, provide assistance to business units and provide recommendations to improve IT systems and business processes is required. An aptitude for communications and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships (internally and externally) is a must. Position should be a self-starter who is well organized and a team player, have excellent presentation and communications skills and be able to multi-task and work under established deadlines.

Relationships and Contacts:

Must be able to maintain internal relationships necessary to achieve the purpose of the position and the desired results. Work cooperatively with staff members of other divisions and key partners to resolve mutual operational problems and meet corporate policies, procedures and goals. Position shall sustain necessary external contacts and relationships to achieve desired results while providing courteous and prompt service in assisting customers. Required to interact with vendors, consultants and contractors as necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

Working Conditions:

Normal business hours, with limited overtime and rotating on call support as required.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $40.00 - $45.00 per hour. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
