Our client is actively seeking a talented z/OS Developer to work fully remote. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with the possibility for extension or to go permanent with our client.


Job Overview:

Our Fortune 100 client is seeking an experienced IBM z/OS Developer with System Administration skills to join their IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing, configuring, and maintaining IBM z/OS applications, with a specific focus on System Administration. The candidate must also have experience in z/OS application development, including building and maintaining custom applications, workflows, and integrations.


Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Design, develop, and configure IBM z/OS applications, specifically focused on System Administration.
  • Build and maintain custom applications, workflows, and integrations within the z/OS platform.
  • Collaborate with the business and IT teams to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Work with other developers to ensure that code is consistent, efficient, and maintainable.
  • Perform testing and debugging of z/OS applications to ensure they are working as intended.
  • Provide technical guidance to other team members and stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in the review and approval of change requests, ensuring that all changes follow established procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of z/OS releases and new features and make recommendations for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Ensure that z/OS applications are aligned with IT policies and standards.
  • Perform system administration tasks, including software installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including system logs, backups, and recovery procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.


Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IBM z/OS application development, specifically focused on System Administration.
  • Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, REXX, and Assembler.
  • Experience with z/OS APIs, web services, and integration technologies (MQ, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of z/OS system administration, including software installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Experience with IBM z/OS hardware, including mainframes, processors, and storage devices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $53.90 - $58.90 per hour.

The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
